I haven’t been writing to this blog for the longest time so I don’t want this yearend’s post and New Year’s resolution to slip.
Reflection
Last year, just like any other year, had been a great year. I was able to travel for four months and still retained my job after–even received a yearend bonus! :). It made me realize that being a digital nomad is not for me. It attested how important it is to maintain communication with (ex)strangers I met from past travels. It invalidated that traveling alone is always the best. Don’t get me wrong. Traveling solo still is good to a certain extent.
A lot of realizations happened. I was able to convince myself that my personal development is indeed progressing–my English may not be, but that can be fixed! I will definitely do more Youtube videos. That trip down to the memory lane of Singapore was a good persuasion of how better I have become–and there’s still a big room for improvement!
2020
I had been mulling over my one-word theme for the year 2020. “Opportunity” stood up. I had been hearing this from people I work with (and respect a lot). Every day is an opportunity to learn. Every news, whether good or bad, is an opportunity to react. When someone leaves a company, it is an opportunity to step up and take the post–or to revisit your CV and apply for another job. Sometimes, we are lucky to be presented with an opportunity that we don’t expect–trainings I never signed up for but I am not complaining because I am learning a lot from it! Oftentimes we have to find the opportunity–it’s like beauty, it’s in the eye of the beholder (I am hysterically laughing for adding this sentence!).
For this year:
- I will continue my photography and travel adventures.
- I will be improving my video-making skill. Release a video once a month.
- I will go more often to the gym. Why is it that I have a hundred excuses to skip the gym and yet have a hundred minutes to spend watching Youtube and Netflix? Lol.
- I will go back to writing. One blog post a month.
- I will increase my revenues because traveling is such an expensive hobby and I want to buy that 16” Macbook Pro. :p
I’ll start with these and pivot if I’m not achieving any of them. Let’s laugh a lot during this year of opportunities.
